The Territory celebrates International Women’s Day’s 2018
International Women’s Day (IWD) is celebrated annually across the globe on March 8 and recognises the contributions and achievements made by women worldwide.
This year there are 41 promoted IWD events happening across the Territory, celebrating the ongoing contribution that Territory women make to their local communities. Thirty of these events have been made possible through the Office of Gender Equity and Diversity International Women’s Day Grants Program.
The Northern Territory Government allocated $40,000 in grant funding to IWD events for 2018, an increase of $20,000 from previous years. The additional funding means that Territorians will be able to participate in events not only town centres, but also regional and remote locations.
There will be two IWD marches in the Territory this year in Darwin and Tennant Creek. The marches are free to attend and are an opportunity for Territorian’s to come together and celebrate women.
