Volunteering at school

There may be opportunities to volunteer at your child's school.

Volunteers may help with any of the following:

  • excursions
  • reading support in the classroom
  • sport activities
  • school councils or school boards
  • fetes and other school events.

Working with Children Clearance

In some cases volunteers at school may need to have a working with children clearance (Ochre card) before starting.

A working with children clearance helps to prevent and deter people who pose a risk to the safety of children from working with them, in either a paid or volunteer capacity.

Go to the working with children clearance page to find out more.

Contact your child's school to discuss the volunteering options available and if an Ochre card is needed.
