Light vehicle standards for registration

When conducting vehicle roadworthy inspections in the Northern Territory (NT), minimum standards for vehicle roadworthiness must be followed.

These standards are set out on the light vehicle inspection manual.

The manual is for:

• authorised inspectors
• police officers
• transport inspectors.

Any accessory must:

• be securely fitted without increasing the risk of injury to any person or
• not impede the safe control of the vehicle or
• not affect the vehicle being roadworthy.
