Check if your vehicle needs an inspection
To register your vehicle, you must get an inspection.
For older cars on the road, you will need a roadworthy inspection every 12 months to renew your registration.
The following shows when your type of vehicle needs an inspection to register your car.

Legend:
- A - compliance check only if vehicle details do not match.
- B - first roadworthy inspection required from five years old and next roadworthy inspection required when vehicle is 10 years old.
- C - annual roadworthy inspection, unless exempted under an approved vehicle maintenance scheme.

How to get an inspection
For roadworthy inspections, you may go to either:
- an authorised vehicle inspector or
- a vehicle inspection facility.
For compliance checks, visit your nearest vehicle inspection facility.
