Walking at Redbank Gorge
1. Redbank Gorge Walk
This walk starts at car park and wonders alongside the creek bed that leads you to the Redbank Gorge Waterhole. The walk is unmarked but starts on a well defined track before dropping into the sandy creek bed. On a warm day walking in the sand is tiring and visitors should take and drink plenty of water. The track is rocky at times and care should be taken when walking, particularly when there is water in the creek.
Although the area is spectacular, the most stunning experience is only once you have swam through the waterhole and entered the chasm on the far side. A flotation device is recommended as the water can be very cold, both in the waterhole and the chasm area. Be very careful as much of the rock into the chasm is extremely smooth and slippery. The experience of paddling through the narrow chasm is not to be missed. It is one of the truly breath taking experiences in Central Australia.
