Cycling at Flynn's Grave
1. Ride to Simpsons Gap
A sealed bicycle path begins opposite Flynn's Grave (7km from Alice Springs along Larapinta Drive), providing a pleasant ride suitable for the whole family. Alice Springs Town Council maintains a web of bike paths across town and can get you to Flynns Grave and the start of this bicycle path to Simpsons Gap.
Take plenty of water and use the coolest part of the day to complete the 17 km one-way ride to Simpsons Gap. Remember to arrange for pickup at Simpsons Gap if its not your intention to do the 17km return trip by bike. Remember that there is NO mobile phone coverage at Simpsons Gap so arrange pickup before you leave.
The wide bike path travels through a diverse range of habitats including Mulga shrublands, grasslands and woodlands. Cycling along can allow you to come across some unique wildlife. Keep your eyes open for the huge Perentie, Australia's largest lizard at over 2m in length in the warmer months of the year. Euros, similar to the majest Red Kangaroo are also often spotted by cyclists along this path.
