1. Picnic at Simpsons Gap

Simpsons Gap has two picnic areas to choose from. The first one you will come across is adjacent to the Visitors Centre and Ghost Gum Walk. It has a shaded area and Free gas barbecues. The next area is right down near the Gap itself, a further 5kms down the road. This picnic area is nestled in amongst a grove of Mulga shrubs and also has FREE gas barbecues scattered throughout the the area. Both areas are ideal for midday or evening BBQs, so much so its they've become a local institution!

If you are after a unique experience why not pack a hamper and head off down into Simpsons Gap itself. The short walk into the Gap gets you into the sandy bed of the Roe Creek where you can pitch the blanket and wonder at the towering cliffs and abundant wildlife around you. Shady, large River Red Gum trees are scattered along the creekline so finding shade is never an issue.
