Walking at Ormiston Gorge
1. Ghost Gum Walk
The Ghost Gum Lookout Walk leads you up to a steel viewing platform where you overlook the Ormiston Waterhole. Off to the north to can see straight down into the majestic Ormiston Gorge with its ruggered, quartzitic cliff faces and deep, sandy floor. The views from this location are magnificient and no single photograph can do it justice. The panoramic views up and down Ormiston Creek give you an insight into why Ormiston is such a haven for photographers and naturalists across the world.
If you enjoy what you see you can continue onwards along the Ghost Gum Walk (a 1.5 hour loop) that winds down close to the gorge and eventually leads back to Ormiston Waterhole via the rocky floor of the Gorge.
Remember that after high rainfall there can be extensive waterholes throughout the Gorge that may require you to swim or wade through.
