A self guided tour of the Araluen Cultural Precinct provides a fascinating glimpse into the art, culture and heritage of Central Australia and an insight to the local identities that helped shape the region. Comprising several key cultural institutions and attractions, the Araluen Cultural Precinct celebrates the people and cultures that have made Central Australia what is today: everything from our ancient Aboriginal culture right through to aviation pioneers. The grounds of the Precinct are also culturally significant to the local Arrarnta people, with seven registered sacred sites and trees of significance on the land.
The components of the Precinct include the Araluen Arts Centre (incorporating the Albert Namatjira Gallery), the Museum of Central Australia, the Strehlow Research Centre, the Central Australian Aviation Museum and the studios and gallery of Central Craft. Together they make up the premier location for experiencing the art, culture and history of Central Australia.
