Evaluation of the Mitchell St Secure Taxi Rank
As a trial, a Secure Taxi Rank located outside the Darwin Cinemas on Mitchell Street was established in August 2008. The secure taxi rank operates with a concierge and security staff on Friday and Saturday nights from midnight to 5am and at all other times operates as a standard taxi rank.
The Secure Taxi Rank was established with the aim of providing a safer environment for passengers and taxi/minibus drivers in the CBD. Feedback provided in the Secure Taxi Rank survey will be used to help to improve conditions along the Mitchell Street precinct.

Evaluation of survey results
The survey results are being collated and will be provided to the Secure Rank Review Committee for its evaluation. The Committee comprises of:
- Department of Planning and Infrastructure
- Darwin City Council
- Austalian Hotels Association
- NT Police
- Taxi Council
- Metro Minibus
- Greater Union Birch Carroll and Coyle and
- Stuart Lowry Real Estate
