Road Safety Radio Commercials
In 2005, the Road Safety Branch of the Department of Planning and Infrastructure identified that the majority of people killed and injured on Territory roads were male and Territory residents – not visitors, as many people think. Major issues for awareness campaigns were identified as speed, drink driving, and driver inattention (mobile phone use).
From this information, a series of radio commercials were produced and aired on a number of Territory radio stations in the final week of September 2005. The commercials are ‘generic’, ie not linked to a specific campaign or timeframe and can stand alone, or complement other road safety campaigns. However, the commercials are easily identified as a series because of the tagline – ‘Road Safety. It’s everyone’s responsibility’.
