Glossary

Safe

By "safe" we mean that the identified hazards and risks are managed so that they are kept as low as reasonably practicable (ALARP principle). The hazards/risks may result in death or injury of people (including the public, employees and contractors), material damage (to private or public property) or damage to the environment.

Private sidings

Usually one or two short tracks branching from the main railway line, owned by an industry (oil, manufacturing, etc.) and used for loading/unloading freight wagons.
