The Department of Planning and Infrastructure manages the road network and undertakes a variety of activities to provide a broad range of road services to the Northern Territory Community.

The most important client is the public. Everybody benefits from having a safe and reliable road network that increases the Territory's accessibility and economic potential. The Department aims to ensure Government is always responsive to the needs of the public, both by engaging in direct consultation with key representatives in industry and the community, and by collecting and analysing road asset and traffic data on an ongoing basis.
