Provisional Driver Licence

The Provisional Licence is issued after you pass a practical driving test.

To obtain your provisional driver licence you must:

  • have held the required learner licence for 6 consecutive months
  • make a booking for a practical driving test, which are conducted at MVR offices and Police Outstations (remote areas). A test fee will apply
  • provide current "C"(L) Car Learner Licence
  • provide a vehicle for the test, and it must be registered, roadworthy, and clean. You are also required to have an "L" plate displayed at the front and rear of the vehicle, and must have your current Learner's Licence with you

After you pass the driving test, you will be charged a standard licence fee and then issued with your Provisional Licence. You must display "P" plates on any vehicle you drive for the period of your provisional licence.
