Home Ownership

Did you think buying your own home was out of reach? Think again.

The NT Government aims to help more Territorians buy their own homes through Territory Housing.

There are three ways Territory Housing can help provide access to home ownership for low to middle income earners:

  • HomeNorth Xtra Standard Variable Loan - Offering a low deposit loan.
  • HomeNorth Xtra Shared Equity Loan - A partnership agreement between the Government and the home buyer.
  • HomeNorth Xtra Fee Assistance Loan - Providing assistance with the costs associated with buying a home, including stamp duty, deposit and up to $1 500 for white goods.
  • HomeNorth Xtra Public Housing Sales Program for Tenants  - Offering public housing tenants the option to purchase the property they are in or transfer to purchase another public housing dwelling.

The Territory Insurance Office (TIO) administers the HomeNorth Xtra scheme on behalf of Territory Housing. TIO staff can recommend the best option to suit each individual and provide further information.
