Our history

In 1983 the Northern Territory Police, Fire and Emergency Services were joined legislatively to become a Tri-Service, with the Commissioner of Police also becoming the Chief Executive Officer for the Fire and Rescue Service and the Emergency Service.

The Directors of the Fire and Rescue Service and the Emergency Service are subject to the direction of the Chief Executive Officer. However, they maintain general control and overall responsibility for the management of their respective sections.
