Professional Incentives
There are a range of employment incentives available for Professional employees in the NTPS which recognise the particular needs of these employees to build upon and maintain their professional expertise. The below incentives are available to employees subject to a CEO's approval under the Northern Territory Public Sector 2008 – 2010 Union Collective Agreement. 

With the approval of their Managing Director, Science and Engineering Professionals employed under the 2007-2010 Power and Water Union Collective Agreement, are only able to claim the Professional Development Allowance from the below incentives.

Work Life Balance Initiatives
The following work life balance initiatives were introduced into the Northern Territory Public Sector 2008 – 2010 Union Collective Agreement (sub clause 41.1 (b)):

  • utilisation of recreation leave at half pay;
  • purchase of additional leave; and
  • NTPS Extended Leave Scheme.

The following documents have been produced in relation to these intiatives for whole of government use.

NTPS Workplace Agreement 2008-2010 Passes the Fairness Test
Click on this link to read the letter from the Workplace Authority advising that the Northern Territory Public Sector 2008--2010 Union Collective Agreement passes the fairness test. The fairness test applies to collective agreements lodged on or after 7 May 2007 that change or remove certain protected conditions. It applies to agreements that cover employees who work in industries or jobs where a federal award applies. For the purposes of the fairness test there are 13 Awards displaced by this agreement.

Medical Officers Workplace Agreement 2008-2010 Passes the No Disadvantage Test
Click on this link to read the letter from the Workplace Authority advising that the Medical Officers (Northern Territory Public Sector) Workplace Agreement 2008--2010 passes the fairness test. The fairness test applies to collective agreements lodged on or after 7 May 2007 that change or remove certain protected conditions. It applies to agreements that cover employees who work in industries or jobs where a federal award applies. For the purposes of the fairness test the AP807 Medical Officers (Northern Territory Public Sector) Award 2001 was used in relation to the employees subject to this agreement.
