The following information is held by the Utilities
Commission:
To protect the right to privacy of these customers, the
Utilities Commission has undertaken to only release information on individual
contestable customers held on this 'Register of Contestable Customers' on the
following basis:
-
the information would only be provided either to
electricity entities licensed under the Electricity Reform Act 2000
(or
applicants for such licences) or to corporate entities registered with the
Utilities Commission as 'potential new suppliers' hereafter referred to
collectively as 'competing suppliers';
-
the information would be provided to each competing
supplier in writing, and then only after they had agreed to accept and use
the information on the following terms:
-
to not provide any part of the information to
any other parties, whether those parties are inside or outside the NT
electricity supply industry;
-
to treat all the information provided as
'commercial-in-confidence'; and
-
to remove information on an individual
contestable customer from their own databases once advised by the
Utilities Commission that the customer has requested that they be
removed from the 'Register of Contestable Customers' for whatever
reason, and to cease any associated marketing efforts directed at that
customer from the date that such advice is received from the Utilities
Commission; and
-
individual contestable customers included on the
'Register of Contestable Customers' would be advised that:
-
they could request the Utilities Commission at
any time to remove their details from the Register, and
-
the Utilities Commission would investigate any
complaints the customer submitted to the Utilities Commission about an
individual competing supplier's use of information on the Register,
and deal with any breaches in an appropriate manner.
