One of the functions of the Utilities Commission is to provide and require consumer consultation processes in regulated industries and to assist consumers and others with information and other services.

More specifically, the Electricity Networks (Third Party Access) Code requires that, in regulating network access prices, the Commission is to conduct all its determinations and approval processes in an open, transparent and competitively-neutral manner, including by consulting network users, end-use customers, members of the public and all licensed electricity entities that may be affected, directly or indirectly, by the resultant prices.
