The Port of Darwin’s regulatory arrangements determine how users of the port, such as shipping and freight companies, stevedores and mining firms, can access port infrastructure and facilities. The framework also determines how the port is operated and how freight moves through it.
As such, ensuring that the port operates effectively, safely and without unnecessary regulatory restrictions is important for trade and the performance of the Territory economy.
The review of the port of Darwin’s regulatory arrangements is a requirement of the Council of Australian Governments’ national infrastructure reform plan agreed by all governments last year, and is a key priority of the Territory Government.
A discussion draft report has been prepared to assist interested stakeholders in making submissions. The discussion draft report can be downloaded here.
