Northern Territory Economic briefs provide up to date analysis of the Territory economy and it’s performance in relation to the Australian economy.
Released monthly, the Territory Economic Review provides a wrap-up of the latest economic and demographic indicators. Each Review provides analysis of around fifteen indicators, with particular focus on the Territory.
The Review also presents a range of time series data and state by state comparisons of major economic indicators to present the Territory economy in the context of the national economic environment.
In August 1999, the Legislative Assembly Select Committee on Territory Food Prices presented a report on their Inquiry into Food Prices in the Northern Territory. A key recommendation of this report was that Government monitor grocery prices across the Northern Territory and that the results be published on a regular basis. Treasury was given the task of developing and conducting an appropriate survey to implement this recommendation.
Northern Territory Social Briefs provide the latest key social statistics about the Territory. These briefs cover a broad range of social indicators, such as population, family and community, health and welfare, education and training, employment, economic resources and other areas of social concern. The briefs draw on various sources of data including Australian Institute of Health and Welfare, Australian Bureau of Statistics and National Centre for Vocational Education Research.
