Name: Stathi Tsangaris
From: Darwin, NT

Academic Background:
Bachelor of Economics, minor in Accounting, Charles Darwin University

First FOIT placement at Treasury:

Economic Group - Economic and Social Analysis.

As a Research Officer within the Economic and Social Analysis (ESA) business unit, my main task was to collate and analyse a broad range of statistical data, and brief the Treasurer on the past, current, and potential performance of the Territory economy. In addition, I prepared a number of economic and Legislative Assembly briefs, and as part of the Budget Paper process I prepared chapters for the Northern Territory Economy Book.

These tasks have expanded my knowledge of economic issues and my ability to apply analytical techniques to real world scenarios. Furthermore, my time in ESA has helped me to develop both my written and oral communication skills to better describe relationships, whether numerical or conceptual, in a clear and succinct manner.

What is your current role in Treasury?

Having enjoyed my first rotation I endeavoured and subsequently accepted a position in ESA on completion of the FOIT program. My current role further expands on tasks introduced as a FOIT and allows the freedom to explore, introduce and apply new systems and analytical techniques when working with economic and financial data.
