The Territory has a coordinated approach to responding to natural disasters where Government Agencies and councils work together to help the community recover through a set of pre-determined relief measures. The Commonwealth Government also contributes to the Territory’s recovery in the form of partial reimbursement under a program called the Natural Disaster Relief and Recovery Arrangements (NDRRA). To find out what relief measures you may be eligible for, click on the relevant link or refer to the contact information page.
Natural Disaster Relief and Recovery Arrangements (NDRRA) can be activated in response to eligible natural disasters. Eligible natural disasters include any one, or a combination of: cyclone, flood, storm, storm surge, bushfire, landslide, tsunami, meteor strike, tornado and earthquake.
NDRRA is a joint Territory and Commonwealth government program designed to share the cost of relief and assistance and help communities to re-establish following a natural disaster.
The report, submitted to the Australian Government Attorney-General’s Department, outlines the Territory’s response to the requirements for information and data requested in accordance with clause 4.6 of Natural Disaster Relief and Recovery Arrangements Determination 2011 Version 1 and the results of the independent assessment of the Territory’s insurance arrangements.
For further information on these arrangements or the assistance available, please refer to the relevant link above or other relevant contact listed on the contact information page.
