Smithers (1964 - 1971)
Reginald Smithers served
as an additional Justice of the Supreme Court of the Northern
Territory from 1964 - 1971.
Justice Smithers graduated from
Melbourne University and was admitted as a Barrister & Solicitor
in Victoria in 1924.
Justice Smithers was called to
the Bar in 1929 and was appointed as a Queen's Counsel in 1951.
Justice Smithers served as a Justice
of the Supreme Court of Papua and New Guinea from 1962 - 1964
and as a Justice of the Australian Industrial Court from 1965
- 1986.
Justice Smithers was Deputy President
of the Administrative Appeals Tribunal from 1977 - 1980 and a
Justice of the Federal Court of Australia from 1977 - 1986.
Justice Smithers was Chancellor
of the La Trobe University from 1972 - 1980 and was made a Knight
Bachelor in 1980.
