Justice Leonard James King AC

Leonard King was appointed as acting Judge of the Supreme Court of the Northern Territory in 2004 and served in that capacity for 12 months.

Justice King was Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of South Australia from 1978 – 1995 and was a Judge of that Court from 1975 – 1978.

Before his elevation to the South Australian bench, Justice King spent a number of years as a State politician being the Member for Coles. Justice King was Minister for Prices and Consumer Affairs from 1973 – 1975, Minister for Community Welfare from 1972 – 1975, Minister for Social Welfare and Aboriginal Affairs from 1970 – 72 and Attorney-General from 1970 – 1975.

Justice King was appointed as a Queen’s Counsel in 1967 after being admitted as a Barrister and Solicitor in 1950.
