Racing and Gaming

The Community Benefit Fund was established to provide funding support for gambling-related research and amelioration programs concerned with problem gambling, as well as Community Benefit Grants which provide assistance for general community development and improvement purposes.
Gambling and Licensing Services (GLS) administers and enforces the Northern Territory's regulatory regimes for gaming, wagering, liquor, kava, tobacco, private security, business affairs, associations administration, licensing under the Consumer Affairs and Fair Trading Act, agents licensing and escort agencies. Our objective is to minimise harm to the community through the appropriate and effective regulation of these activities.
The Licensing Commission is an independent statutory authority with extensive powers to regulate and enforce the Territory's racing, gaming and licensing legislation. The Commission operates as an independent tribunal with responsibility for licensing and related matters covering liquor control, kava management, private security, escort agencies and gaming machines.
