Water safety




This database contains all the current consolidated Acts and subordinate legislation of the Northern Territory of Australia.
The Marine Safety Branch is responsible for a range of marine matters including safety, commercial vessel surveys, crew certificates of competency, hire and drive vessel registration, recreational boating safety, marine communications for non-solas vessels, search and rescue, marine pollution, oil spill management and clean up training, plan and design approval for new vessels.
The Northern Territory Water Safety Advisory Council began functioning in June 2002 and was directed to develop a 'Northern Territory Water Safety Plan' to assist in the prevention of drowning and near drowning incidences.
The Swimming Pool Safety Act 2004 applies to residential properties smaller than 1.8 hectares with a swimming pool or spa. To arrange for a pool inspection, please call 1300 301 059.
