Death and Bereavement

The statutory function of registering births, deaths and marriages is carried out by the Office of the Registrar-General. The Northern Territory Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages is a section within the Registrar-General's Office.
The Territory Coroner oversees and coordinates all coronial services throughout the Northern Territory and ensures, on behalf of the community, that all deaths and suspected deaths over which a coroner has jurisdiction are thoroughly investigated.
Court Support Services are the responsibility of the Department of Justice, we are responsible for meeting the on-going needs of the Judiciary and general public. This section of the website provides information relating to: Community Justice Centre, Court Support Services, The Coroner's Office, The Lands, Planning and Mining Tribunal, The Fines Recovery Unit, The Mental Health Review Tribunal.
The Northern Territory Government provides a free death and invalidity scheme for Territory public sector employees and executive contract officers who are in choice of fund superannuation arrangements.
The Office of the Public Trustee provides trustee, executor, will making and personal financial administration services within the Northern Territory. The Office also offers a wills storage service and acts as executor of last resort.
