Racing Gaming and Licensing




The Licensing Commission is an independent statutory authority with extensive powers to regulate and enforce the Territory's racing, gaming and licensing legislation. The Commission operates as an independent tribunal with responsibility for licensing and related matters covering liquor control, kava management, private security, escort agencies and gaming machines.
Racing, Gaming and Licensing aims to effectively administer legislation and develop policy that minimises harm related to gaming, racing, liquor, kava, private security, prostitution, tobacco and associated activities.
The Business Information Packages provide current and comprehensive information across all levels of government relating to a specific business activity.
Business Licences, Permits and Application Forms. Territory Business Centres provide a range of licence information and application forms for licences administered through a number of Northern Territory Government agencies.
Licensing, Regulation and Alcohol Strategy (LRAS) administers and enforces the Northern Territory's regulatory regimes for gaming, wagering, liquor, kava, tobacco, private security, business affairs, associations administration, licensing under the Consumer Affairs and Fair Trading Act, agents licensing and escort agencies. LRAS also develops and implements strategies for reducing alcohol supply, consumption and resultant harm.
As part of the Northern Territory Government's obligations under the 1995 National Competition Policy Agreements, a number of National Competition Policy (NCP) reviews have been commissioned covering the Acts for which the Minister for Racing, Gaming and Licensing is responsible.
The Racing Division within Racing, Gaming and Licensing is responsible for the Territory's regulatory regime for wagering, and enforces licensing standards. The division's objective is to minimise harm to the community via appropriate and effective regulation of these activities.
RGL is responsible for the development and management of the Territory's regulatory regime for gaming, wagering, liquor, kava, private security, escort agencies and tobacco licensees. Our objective is to minimise harm to the community through the appropriate and effective regulation of these activities.
Territory Business Centres are the initial contact and referral point for starting a business, business & industry licence information, business planning assistance and links to departmental assistance programs.
