Driver Licensing




To operate a motor vehicle in any public place in the Northern Territory including driving in car parks and other private property where the public has access you will need to be licensed.
The Fines Recovery Unit (FRU) manages all aspects of fine recovery including the taking of payments, the making of time to pay arrangements and providing information to the public about the enforcement when no other solution can be found. The FRU offers a case-managed debt recovery system, focused on assisting clients to manage their financial obligations to the Territory. One of the main goals of the FRU is to reduce the number of fine defaulters who are imprisoned.
The Department of Lands, Planning and the Environment has responsibility for developing and providing the strategic planning and growth frameworks, strategies and infrastructure plans required to sustainably develop the Territory. Important areas of focus will include comprehensive analysis of growth trends to inform government decision making, a strategic land use plan for the greater Darwin region, Territory wide residential and industrial land release programs, planning for the City of Weddell and a new regional transport framework.
