Public Housing

The Department of Housing, Local Government and Regional Services delivers local government, community development, housing, Indigenous housing, Aboriginal interpreter, animal welfare and water safety functions of Government.
The Indigenous Housing Assistance Services Program provides assistance to Indigenous people in urban centres to obtain and maintain their public housing tenancies and enter into home ownership through HomeNorth.
The main function of the Office is to keep a Register, which contains title to all land under the Land Title Act, and to provide public access to the Register. Registered dealings are part of the title which is guaranteed by the Crown and open to public search. Some examples of dealings are mortgages, transfers, leases, discharge of mortgages and applications to replace lost certificates as to title. A fee for these services applies.
The Northern Territory Government is committed to providing safe, secure, affordable housing to those Territorians most in need. Territory Housing aims to provide a responsive service that is tailored to meet the particular housing needs of eligible Territorians, which includes the provision of public rental housing.
