The Department of Health exists to provide services that work together for the health and well-being of our communities: maximising physical health but also the mental, social and environmental well-being of all Territorians.
This site assists in the ongoing management and prevention of Acute Rheumatic Fever (ARF) of patients in the Northern Territory who have previously had Acute Rheumatic Fever (ARF) or currently have Rheumatic Heart Disease (RHD).
Recieving a diagnosis of cancer is the beginning of one of life's most challenging journeys; not only for you the patient, but your families, carers and friends. The Cancer Services website aims to help you start that journey and provide information and links that will assist you in the many choices you need to make as a cancer survivor. Health Professionals and Researchers will also find a wealth of information and resources to enrich their specialised knowledge in this broad and challenging field.

Generally an elective surgery procedure is one performed in an operating theatre facility under some form of anaesthesia by a surgeon. A surgeon is a doctor who undertakes the treatment of injuries or disorders by performing surgery. It is booked following a medical assessment by a doctor or health professional who believes the surgery to be clinically necessary but it can be delayed for at least 24 hours.
Five public hospitals, located in Darwin, Alice Springs, Nhulunbuy (Gove), Katherine and Tennant Creek form a network throughout the Territory.

The RFDS provides broad range of services in rural and remote areas of Australia including traditional emergency flights for victims of accidents or illness, regular clinic flights to isolated communities with teams of doctors, nurses and specialists whilst increasingly providing critical support to the metropolitan area.
For many years medical specialists in the Northern Territory have provided services to rural and remote areas. Often these services are based on the goodwill and philanthropic nature of the Doctors and over time some funding has been dedicated to expand and improve Territorians access to specialist services.
The five Territory hospitals provide general services ranging from primary screening and prevention to acute and chronic care. But with issues such as remoteness, a scattered population and the absence of alternative health care providers, hospitals in the Northern Territory also provide a series of non-acute services to their communities.
eHealthNT is focused on advancing health care delivery through a range of systems to assist health care providers with securely storing, sharing and transmitting important patient care information.
