Teachers

The Northern Territory Department of Education provides and promotes quality education for all Territorians, whether they are young children or adults, so that they can experience the best possible life and job opportunities.
Community education assists with the management of parks by promoting conservation of the natural and cultural environment by providing educational programs to young Territorians and the broader community. Educational programs are provided to all sectors of the community to promote positive visitor behaviour to current and future park users. We focus on community education initiatives for young people of today who will be the community leaders of tomorrow. If they use and value the park system, and understand its multiple roles, the chances for future protection of the Northern Territory's biodiversity will be much improved.

The SSNT Framework is intended to meet the requirements of the Australian Government National Safe Schools Framework, which provides an agreed national approach to help schools address issues of bullying, harassment, violence, child abuse and neglect.

The Board is an independent body charged with: registering teachers, or granting authorisation to an employer to employ an unregistered person as a teacher; liaising with providers of teacher education and professional development in the Northern Territory; supporting the development of appropriate teacher education courses.
Qualified teachers, including graduates and experienced professionals are invited to turn their knowledge into the experience of a lifetime. Teaching in the Territory gives you a range of benefits such as an excellent salary, great professional development, up to 3 airfares a year, a laptop for every teacher in an NT Government school and a great lifestyle.
Teachers are respected members of the community and great role models for kids … and it’s never too late to take up the challenge. There are lots of different ways Indigenous members of our community can become teachers. Visit www.indigenousteacher.nt.gov.au to find out more.
