The Local Government Association of the Northern Territory (LGANT) is a peak organisation representing the interests of Local Government in the Northern Territory.

The Australian Local Government Association is the national voice of local government, representing more than 700 councils across the country.
The Barkly Shire is located in the Northern Territory of Australia. The Shire covers an area of 323,514 km's and has a population of approximately 7,531. The Barkly Shire Council acknowledges and pays respect to the Traditional Owners of the Barkly Region. Upon the amalgamation in July 2008 the Barkly Shire Council incorporated the following existing local government bodies; Tennant Creek Town Council, Elliott District Community Government Council, Aherrenge Association Inc., Ali Curung Council Inc., and Alpurrurulam Community Government Council. By agreement the Council also took responsibility for the Local Government functions of the Urapuntja Council Aboriginal Corp. and a large area of currently unincorporated land that includes the Barkly Tablelands, numerous land trusts and pastoral properties.

East Arnhem Shire Council
The Department of Housing, Local Government and Regional Services delivers local government, community development, housing, Indigenous housing, Aboriginal interpreter, animal welfare and water safety functions of Government.
The town of Katherine is the fourth largest in the Northern Territory, situated 320 kilometres south-east of Darwin on the beautiful Katherine River.
Litchfield Council provides services to an area of 3,100 km2 and is situated on the outskirts of Darwin, nestled in tropical rural bushland. With a fast growing population of over 18,000, the Litchfield residents enjoy the diverse rural lifestyle which holds a unique mix of rural residential, horticultural, agricultural and industrial interests within its boundaries.
The Department of Local Government's role is to strengthen local government capacity, and support animal welfare education and ensure legislative compliance across the Territory.

Roper Gulf Shire Council
The beautiful Tiwi Islands are situated 80 km north of Darwin in the Arafura Sea. There are two islands, Bathurst Island and Melville Island with a total land mass of 8320 sq km.

The West Arnhem Shire is located in the Northern Territory of Australia. The Shire covers an area of 49,698.26 kmē and has a population of 6,591 (2008). The West Arnhem Shire Council acknowledges and pays respect to the Traditional Owners of West Arnhem. The Council provides essential services to the West Arnhem Shire and covers four wards. The communities of Minjilang & Warruwi are located in Barrah Ward, Maningrida community in Maningrida Ward, Gunbalanya community in Gunbalanya Ward and Jabiru situated in Kakadu Ward which also includes the World Heritage listed Kakadu National Park.
