Education

The Northern Territory Department of Education provides and promotes quality education for all Territorians, whether they are young children or adults, so that they can experience the best possible life and job opportunities.
A unique place of knowledge and skills, where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Australians can undertake journeys of learning for empowerment and advancement while strengthening identity.
Formed through a merger between the Northern Territory University, Alice Springs-based Centralian College and the Menzies School of Health Research, Charles Darwin University offers a fresh approach to training, education, research and knowledge application. It aspires to be recognised internationally as a centre of excellence in Indigenous and cross cultural knowledge, tropical knowledge (relevant to the wet/dry tropics) and desert knowledge.
The Defence of Darwin Experience museum is the first facility in Australia to provide an immersive, interactive, multimedia experience which extends beyond the physical walls of the precinct hub.
Leading edge communication systems are used to deliver teaching and learning through Alice Springs School of the Air, Katherine School of the Air and NT Open Education Centre.
Provided by Department of Business (DoB) , the Employment and Training business area is focused on increasing access to employment and training pathways for Territorians to build and skill the workforce to meet the growing demands of the NT labour market.
Community education assists with the management of parks by promoting conservation of the natural and cultural environment by providing educational programs to young Territorians and the broader community. Educational programs are provided to all sectors of the community to promote positive visitor behaviour to current and future park users. We focus on community education initiatives for young people of today who will be the community leaders of tomorrow. If they use and value the park system, and understand its multiple roles, the chances for future protection of the Northern Territory's biodiversity will be much improved.
Moving Alice Ahead is about building a strong, safe and secure future for Alice Springs. Eleven individual projects are now underway as part of Moving Alice Ahead. They address key economic, social and community issues that are affecting Alice Springs now and into the future. The projects identify opportunities for future development in partnership with local business, industry and the wider community.
