The Northern Territory Department of Education and Training (DET) provides and promotes quality education and training for all Territorians, whether they are young children or adults, so that they can experience the best possible life and job opportunities.
A unique place of knowledge and skills, where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Australians can undertake journeys of learning for empowerment and advancement while strengthening identity.
Formed through a merger between the Northern Territory University, Alice Springs-based Centralian College and the Menzies School of Health Research, Charles Darwin University offers a fresh approach to training, education, research and knowledge application. It aspires to be recognised internationally as a centre of excellence in Indigenous and cross cultural knowledge, tropical knowledge (relevant to the wet/dry tropics) and desert knowledge.
Distance Education and flexible learning programs have been a long established feature in education service delivery in the NT with services being delivered through Katherine School of the Air, Alice Springs School of the Air and Northern Territory Open Education College.
The Department of Employment, Education and Training (DEET) aims to continually improve education outcomes for all students, with a focus on Indigenous students. We are committed to the principle of lifelong learning for all Territorians, regardless of age, gender or location.
Provided by Department of Employment, Education and Training (DEET) , the Employment and Training business area is focused on increasing access to employment and training pathways for Territorians to build and skill the workforce to meet the growing demands of the NT labour market.

Community education assists with the management of parks by promoting conservation of the natural and cultural environment by providing educational programs to young Territorians and the broader community. Educational programs are provided to all sectors of the community to promote positive visitor behaviour to current and future park users. We focus on community education initiatives for young people of today who will be the community leaders of tomorrow. If they use and value the park system, and understand its multiple roles, the chances for future protection of the Northern Territory's biodiversity will be much improved.
The Information Technology Services Division provides policy development, strategic planning and operational management services to support the effective use of information and communications technologies in schools and corporate business units for the Department.
International Services is the coordination point for the Department of Employment, Education and Training's international involvement. It is responsible for overseeing, coordinating and/or monitoring international programs at both departmental and school levels.
The Laptops for Teachers Program initiative is aimed at encouraging principals and teachers to effectively integrate the use of learning technologies into the classroom and administrative practices of schools.

Moving Alice Ahead is about building a strong, safe and secure future for Alice Springs. Eleven individual projects are now underway as part of Moving Alice Ahead. They address key economic, social and community issues that are affecting Alice Springs now and into the future. The projects identify opportunities for future development in partnership with local business, industry and the wider community.
Schools can purchase additional Dell computers under the supply contract with DEET. The number of desktop and notebook models available under this arrangement will vary, however all models come with the same software configuration and 3 year onsite warranty provided with the centrally supplied computers.
The NT Schools portal is a single point of access to information, communication, collaboration and online resources relevant to individual users and their school. All schools have their own individual portal.

Telstra is the telecommunications service provider for all DEET schools.
Access to the Internet is available to all NT schools. Internet access and usage is filtered through central content filters. By utilising content filtering across the NTSchools network, DEET is seeking to ensure that its students are not exposed to web sites that may be offensive, upsetting or inappropriate while at school.

The SSNT Framework is intended to meet the requirements of the Australian Government National Safe Schools Framework, which provides an agreed national approach to help schools address issues of bullying, harassment, violence, child abuse and neglect.

The Student Administration and Management System (SAMS) was introduced into NT Government schools in 2002, with all schools being implemented by the end of 2003.

The Curriculum Framework Planning Tool (commonly known as the e-Tool) is an online resource that provides teachers with the opportunity to record student achievement based on evidence of learning.
