Arts and Culture





Arts NT's role is to support and develop the artistic and cultural potential of the Territory through policy, operational and financial support and advice. Arts NT aims to develop responsive and appropriate mechanisms for the support and development of the Northern Territory's artists and the broader arts sector.
Browns Mart Community Arts administers an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander arts program, the Darwin Fringe festival. It also offers professional advice on administered grants, advocacy and performance projects.
Corrugated Iron Youth Arts Inc (CIYA) is a place for young people under 26 years of age to pursue performing arts in Darwin, Northern Territory.
Whats on now at the premier entertainment and convention venue in the Top End of Australia? The DEC has venues that can host events such as stage spectaculars, music, cabaret and theatre, conferences and conventions, small meetings and functions, art and trade exhibitions, rehearsals and classes.
DeafNT is a non-profit, information and referral service, which provides support to Deaf and hearing impaired people of all ages. DeafNT also represents the Deaf community in areas such as education, employment and community access at the government and community level.
Alternative Cinema Under the Stars in Darwin. Theatrical screenings of the best of alternative cinema drawn from Australian and international film making, in a relaxed open air cinema during the Top End dry season (April to October). Program includes members screenings, special events, and festivals.
The Darwin Festival provides a huge contribution to art, culture and entertainment in the Northern Territory. Every year the Festival draws more visitors from interstate and around the world, embedding its reputation as the fastest growing festival in the southern hemisphere.
InCite provides quality Youth Arts for Alice Springs Youth & Children since 1998.We Engage professional artists to collaborate with communities in creating art, deliver programs at a 'grass roots' level in consultation with Community Partners & Collaborators, produce excellent art & long term community development outcomes: cultural, social & economic, build community capacity to express and celebrate cultural identity.
Free interpreting and translating services (where applicable) are provided to NT Goverment agencies when dealing with non-English speaking clients who are Australian citizens or residents.
Moving Alice Ahead is about building a strong, safe and secure future for Alice Springs. Eleven individual projects are now underway as part of Moving Alice Ahead. They address key economic, social and community issues that are affecting Alice Springs now and into the future. The projects identify opportunities for future development in partnership with local business, industry and the wider community.
The Portrait of a Senior Territorian Art Award is an annual celebration of the contribution of senior Territorians to the history and development of the Territory. It is a unique event, with its focus on older Australians aged sixty years and over and the opportunity it provides for local artists to enter a Territory based art competition. The winning work is acquired into a public collection.
RedHOT Arts develops and promotes the distinctive cross cultural arts sector of Central Australia. RedHot Arts is an umbrella organisation supporting the development and marketing of the arts in Central Australia.
The Commonwealth Government's Regional Arts Fund supports the arts in regional and remote areas.
Information and services available for older Territorians including Seniors Card Scheme, Seniors Month, Council on Ageing, Portrait of a Senior Territorian Art Award, Senior Australian of the Year and links to other services.
The Strehlow Research Centre cares for, and facilitates culturally appropriate access to, the Strehlow Collection of central Australian ethnographic objects and archival materials. It provides a repository for the wealth of material gathered by TGH Strehlow during his lifetime of study of the Aboriginal people of Central Australia. It consists collections of Australian Aboriginal artefacts, songs, genealogies, photographs and film and sound recordings ever amassed.
Territory Craft is a membership based organization that aims to advance the cause of craft and craftspeople throughout the Northern Territory.
