Community Links Guidelines

The Department of Corporate and Information Services maintains the NT Government internet site on behalf of all government agencies.

The purpose of the internet site is to provide a customer focussed gateway to Northern Territory Government services and information and to Northern Territory community service information.

Eligibility

Linking to websites of community organisations and not-for-profit organisations operating in, or providing services to, the Northern Territory is available through the Community Links page on the NTG internet site.

Community organisation is defined as a formal group contributing to the cultural, social, educational and/or recreational interests of the Northern Territory community.

Organisations that charge an annual membership fee or charge for organised activities in order to recover costs are eligible to register to have a link from the NT Government site. Organisations that charge for services for the purpose of making a profit are not eligible.

Examples of eligible entries:

  • Craft/hobby groups

  • Special interest groups

  • Schools and

  • Social or sporting clubs.

Examples of ineligible entries:

  • Retail or commercial service organisations,

  • Commercial tour operators, or

  • Individuals

The NT Government checks all requests for suitability before they are displayed on the site. This will usually occur within one working day of the entry being submitted. All decisions regarding inclusion on the Northern Territory Government internet site rest with the NT Government.

The NT Government reserves the right to refuse inclusion or remove without notice:

  • Sites which:condone or promote illegal or anti-social activities
  • Sites which:in the opinion of the NT Government are offensive
  • Sites which provide links to any of the above.
  • Sites where ownership or authorship cannot be easily identified.
  • Sites where information is found to be out-of-date or whose functioning is unreliable.
  • Sites containing links to, or advertising for, commercial services.

It is the responsibility of the community organisation to ensure the NT Government is notified of any changes of url. Regular link checks are conducted on the NT Government internet site and if a broken link to a community website is detected the link will be removed.

Submission Criteria

When requesting a link organisations will be asked to provide the following information:

  • Name of organisation;

  • Name of contact person;

  • URL of the relevant information;

  • Title for the link you wish displayed;

  • A description of the organisation;

  • Choose a category or categories; and

  • Contact phone and e-mail.

Failure to provide all of this information will invalidate the submission.
