Dr Simon Ward – Scientist
Qualifications
Simon has a BSc(Hons) from the University of Melbourne and a PhD in Zoology from Monash University. Prior to arriving in the NT in 2004 he held academic teaching/research positions in zoology at the University of Melbourne and James Cook University in North Queensland.
Research
Prior to working in the NT, Simon’s research concentrated on the behavioural ecology and natural history of mammals and seabirds. Much of the seabird work was done in Antarctica, over three summer expeditions to the icy continent. In his current position he coordinates research on and management of threatened plant and animal species in the Katherine and Darwin Regions. He also represents the NT on the national Wetlands and Waterbirds Taskforce and the Aquatic Ecosystems Taskgroup.
