Tony Griffiths – Senior Scientist
Qualifications
Tony has almost 20 years experience working as an ecologist in northern Australia. He has a Master of Science and a Bachelor of Education (Environmental Science), and is completing his PhD in zoology.
Tony has been a research scientist with CSIRO Sustainable Ecosystems and research fellow at Charles Darwin University's Key Centre for Tropical Wildlife Management and the School for Environmental Research.
Research
Tony has undertaken a wide range of projects in the Top End and Gulf regions including; biological surveys, a range of research projects examining the population dynamics of animals and plants, and the impacts of land management regimes on biodiversity.
A focus of his research has been the effects of fire on reptile and mammal populations in the Top End, the sustainable use of wildlife in Indigenous communities and the effects of air pollution on biodiversity.
Tony is also interested in biodiversity monitoring, the impacts of land clearing and fragmentation on biodiversity, threatened species and the analysis and modelling of (lots) data.
