Objectives

1. Assess the taxonomic identity of Northern Territory populations of the Australian snubfin and Indo-Pacific humpback dolphins .
2. Investigate the spatial distribution and habitat use of the Australian snubfin and Indo-Pacific humpback dolphins .
3. Estimate population sizes for both species of dolphin.
4. Examine movement and residency patterns of both dolphin species.
5. Assess human impacts including the effects of boat traffic and gillnetting and look at ways to reduce threatening processes.
6. Recommendations regarding the conservation and management of both species in NT waters.
