Wildlife Carer’s Permit
The Wildlife Carer’s Permit is designed to enable members of the public to care for injured wildlife and assist the NT Parks and Wildlife Service with the rescue and rehabilitation of native wildlife.
A wildlife carer’s permit application is issued by the NT Parks and Wildlife Service and it is assessed on previous experience and training, and the conditions in which an animal is going to be housed (eg. wallabies will not be granted to people with dogs unless a fully fenced enclosure is available). The permit is required to be renewed annually 31 July, to ensure that Permit Holders have adhered to the conditions of the permit and to submit Wildlife Report Forms.
Being a Wildlife Rescue Volunteer is a very rewarding experience and if you have a passion for wildlife, then becoming a wildlife carer may be for you.
The wildlife carer volunteers are managed by our Wildlife Rescue Service.
