Distribution of Springs
Localised Springs
Over 600 springs have been identified. Many more exist but have either not been recorded, have small discharges or only flow for short periods.

Streambed Seepages
Streams that flow throughout the year are restricted to the Top End of the Northern Territory where the rainfall is more than about 900mm/year. In the Dry season(May to November) they are fed by ground water discharge.
Many streams gain water from diffuse streambed seepage and no discrete springs are visible.Others are a combination of localised springs and streambed seepage. Move the cursor over the main streams to see their names. Click the red dots to see examples of streambed seepages.
