Present Roles

Mr John Childs

 

John Childs is the Chair of DRMAC. John is managing director of Bush Business Consulting P/L. He is Chair of the Tropical Rivers and Coastal Knowledge (TRaCK) Program Management Committee, and for 6 years was a member of the NT Pastoral Land Board. From 1997 to 2002 John held the position of Director of Tropical Savannas CRC.

Mr Dan Thomson

 

Represents non-Indigenous Landowners and the NT Cattleman’s Association (NTCA). Owner of pastoral and farming property in the Douglas Daly Region. Committee Member of Top End Branch of NTCA.

Ms Kate Peake

Represents horticultural industry interests and was nominated by the NT Horticultural Association (NTHA). Executive Officer of the NTHA.

Mr Gary Higgins

 

Represents the NT Tourism Industry and the Katherine Region Tourist Association (KRTA) . Owner / Operator Daly River Mango Farm and Tourist Park.
Chairman Katherine Region Tourist Association (KRTA).
Chairman Wangamatty (Lower Daly) Landcare Group. Previously a member of the Daly Region Community Reference Group.

Mr Fergal O'Gara

Represents non-Indigenous Landowners and the NT Agricultural Association. Fergal has been involved in agricultural development in the Top End for over 20 years as a Government research and extension officer.  He has worked in the Katherine-Sturt Plateau regions on crop and pasture development and conservation farming and in the Darwin and Douglas Daly regions on irrigation, farming systems and crop and pasture evaluation.  Fergal is currently employed as the Principal Project Officer with the Northern Territory Agricultural Association. Fergal has formal qualifications in agriculture, extension, irrigation and rural development and runs a small hay growing operation outside Darwin.

Represents Indigenous landowners and the Daly Region Aboriginal Reference Group (DRARG).

Mr Chris Makepeace

 

Chris represents Recreation/Fishing interests and the Amateur Fishermen’s Association of the NT (AFANT). He has been Executive Officer of AFANT for the past four years following a career in publishing, education and public administration. He is a member of the Darwin Harbour Advisory Committee, the NT Water Safety Advisory Council and a number of NT Fisheries Management Advisory Committees.

Ms Melanie Bradley

 

Represents conservation interests and was nominated by the Environment Centre NT (ECNT). Policy Officer with ECNT. Background in landscape ecology, with a particular interest in native vegetation management. Experience in economics, environmental philosophy and environmental law.

NT Government representative for Land Use Planning.
