Alastair Black

Alastair BlackA Civil Engineer employed as Engineering Manager with Darwin Port Corporation, Alastair represents commercial users on DHAC.

Alastair has over 25 years of construction and port engineering experience in Scotland, Papua New Guinea and Australia. He is currently responsible for implementing the Corporation’s repairs, maintenance and capital works programs, as well as its environmental commitments.

The Port of Darwin is important to the economy of the region as it provides an entry and exit point for various cargoes. Shipping services at the Port include general cargo, livestock, oil and gas, LNG, bulk fuel, fishing, cruise, defence and bulk minerals.

Further significant developments are forecast for Darwin and Alastair identifies with the need to ensure that future port development and increased shipping activity is undertaken in a manner that minimises the impact on the environment.

We need to ensure a reasoned approach to proposed developments in order to best meet the needs of the Northern Territory.”
