Community Steering Committee
To reinforce community perspectives, a steering committee has been set up to assist with the preparation of the Alice Springs Water Resources Strategy.
The community steering committee will review the document and participate in the determination of water allocations and beneficial uses for Alice Springs.
The community steering committee will also assist with proposing membership for a Ministerially appointed Water Advisory Committee for Alice Springs. The proposed Water Advisory Committee for Alice Springs will then represent the interests of the community throughout the lifespan of the strategy.
Proposed membership of the Community Steering Committee for Alice Springs Water Resources Strategy:
- Scientific - Desert Knowledge CRC
- Community - Alice Springs Town Council
- Environmental - Arid Lands Environment Centre
- Public water supply - Power and Water Corporation
- Indigenous - Central Land Council
- Commercial - Regional Development Board
- Horticultural industry - NT Horticultural Partnership Group
