The Health of the Aquatic Environment in the Darwin Harbour Region Report

Map of Darwin Harbour region catchment and mangrove areas

Natural Resource Management Division monitors the health of the aquatic environment in the Darwin Harbour region, which covers the waters and catchments between Gunn and Charles Points. Monitoring by Water Monitoring Branch has, over the years, been conducted on marine, estuarine and river water quality, mangroves and river plant and animal life.

This report provides an overview of aquatic health including stream and harbour water quality, aquatic pests, freshwater lagoons, mangroves and collaborative monitoring efforts with organisations such as the Australian Institute of Marine Science.

Continued monitoring by the Branch will contribute to an integrated monitoring effort being fostered by the implementation of the Darwin Harbour Regional Plan of Management.
