Station Name: Chambers Creek at Upper Catchment

This site is located 33 km past Beswick Community, on the Central Arnhem Road. It was established in November 1977 as part of a program to investigate the water resources in the Northern Territory. It was decommissioned in June 1981, but has since been reopened and incorporated into the Departments’ Flood Warning Telemetry Network, providing near ‘real time’ rainfall data. This data is available for the prediction of flood events that may affect Beswick.

The instrumentation at the site measures rainfall data, in millimetres. This data is relayed back to the Departments’ Hydrographic unit in Darwin via telemetry.
