Description of Telemetered Gauging StationStation Number: G9070132Station Name: McArthur River at M.I.M Pump This site is located on the McArthur River, some 50 km upstream of Borroloola. It was established in 1969, as part of a program to investigate the water resources in the Northern Territory. It has since been incorporated into the Departments’ Flood Warning Telemetry Network, providing near ‘real time’ river height data. This data is available for the prediction of flood events that may effect down stream communities such as Borroloola. The instrumentation at the site measures river height. River height is recorded in metres, to a local gauge datum (GD). This data is relayed back to the Departments’ Hydrographic unit in Darwin via telemetry. This data is automatically forwarded to the Bureau of Meteorology. The maximum recorded river height at this station was 16.07 m, recorded on 26th of February, 1975. |
