Description of Telemetered Gauging StationStation Number: G9070121Station Name: McArthur River at Borroloola Crossing This site is located on the McArthur River, at the Bourketown crossing near Borroloola. It was established in 1975, as part of a program to investigate the water resources in the Northern Territory. It has since been incorporated into the Departments’ Flood Warning Telemetry Network, providing near ‘real time’ river height and rainfall data. The instrumentation at the site measures rainfall and river height. River height is recorded in metres, to a local gauge datum (GD). This data is relayed back to the Departments’ Hydrographic unit in Darwin via telemetry. This data is automatically forwarded to the Bureau of Meteorology. The maximum recorded river height at this station was some 14.95m, recorded on 21st of February, 2001. |
