Description of Telemetered Gauging StationStation Number: G9030250Station Name: Roper River at Red Rock This site is located on the Roper River, approximately 147 km E of Mataranka. It was established in 1966, as part of a program to investigate the water resources in the Northern Territory. It has since been incorporated into the Departments’ Flood Warning Telemetry Network, providing near ‘real time’ river height data. The instrumentation at the site measures river height and rainfall. River height is recorded in metres, to a local gauge datum (GD). This data is relayed back to the Departments’ Hydrographic unit in Darwin via telemetry. This data is automatically forwarded to the Bureau of Meteorology. The maximum recorded river height at this station was 18.516 m, recorded on 20th of March, 1976. |
